Vicky would remember that day for the rest of her life. Dolly had been drinking that night at the club. So had Vicky, for that matter.
It all happened so fast.
Vicky was driving back across the cliff path. They were doomed for disaster the moment it started.
The car had been coming so fast. Dolly had swerved the car, so intent of avoiding the car that she forgot about what was on the other side.
A 500.000 foot drop.
Vicky had no time to shout a warning. She just opened the door a leapt out onto the road.
It was too late for Dolly.
The car spun off the edge, into the deep ravine.
Vicky stared in horror at the burnt wreck of the car at the bottom of the ravine.
If only they hadn't been drinking.
If only they hadn't taken the cliff road.
If only that driver hadn't been going so fast.
If only.
“Come on, we’ve got to go,” Graham whined, pulling on Vicky’s shirtsleeve.
“Ok, Ok” she snapped, “just give me a second to talk to my friend!”
She sighed hot-temperedly. Graham was always like this; every year he made her take him to the school fair, and every time he completely wrecked her day.
“But I want to buy some cake!” he moaned.
Vicky turned to her friend “Well, got to go I guess.”
He grinned wickedly. Anthony knew how much Graham got on Vicky’s nerves, so he tried to encourage him with a wink or twitch of the eyebrows every time they were together.
“See you round,” Anthony replied.
Graham towed Vicky to the sweet and cake stall.
“I want that one,” he demanded, pointing at an iced fairy cake.
“That’s expensive!” Vicky complained.
“But I want it!” insisted Graham.
Vicky knew what would happen know; Graham would go into a temper tantrum, stamp, shout, cry, and possibly sweep the cakes off the stall.
It would cost a lot more than the £1 for a small cake.
“Alright!” Vicky groaned.
Graham snatched the cake from her hands and tucked in.
“I want to go on the bouncy castle now!”
Vicky sighed and resigned herself to an afternoon of torture in the form of her brother.
